Take a look inside!

Do you want to learn hand lettering but don’t know where to start?
Years ago, I wanted to create pretty quotes but I had never done anything like that. My husband bought me a set of calligraphy pens that looked fancy. I thought I could definitely learn this new skill with the right pens. Turns out, it was harder than I thought, and just having fancy pens didn’t magically make me a good hand letterer.
I started searching websites and blogs to find any tutorials that might help. Because I didn’t have one source to learn from, it took me a really long time to feel like I understood what I was doing.
But it doesn’t have to take that long for you. You don’t have to search through every single lettering tutorial on the internet as I did.
You could start today, knowing you have everything you need to learn hand lettering.

This is my brand new book Hand Lettering for Beginners. It will walk you through how to get started hand lettering even with no experience. Start with the right foundation and learn how to explore different styles to make your hand lettering unique to you.
Hand lettering has been a personal therapy for me and a way for me to find some calm in the crazy world we live in. I couldn’t do that if I was struggling with my lettering foundation.
Here are the chapters in Hand Lettering for Beginners:
- Getting Started
- Creating Faux Calligraphy
- Creating Brush Pen Lettering
- Making Lettering Connections
- Laying Out Quotes
- Breaking the Rules
- Creating Basic Font Styles
My goal with this book is to have you feeling like you know what you’re doing in your hand lettering so you don’t have to keep searching for more to understand the basics. I want you to feel good about the way you create right now.
I am excited for you to actually be able to hold this book in your hands. The cool thing about having a published book is that there was a whole team of people behind it, making sure it would be the most helpful to YOU.
When you know how to hand letter, it is the best way to express yourself in a unique way. I know I may be biased, but hand lettering has changed me for the better. I want that for you too.

If you are a hand lettering beginner, you may need help knowing what pens and paper to get with the book. I recommend tracing paper and small brush pens. Any brand will work, but I like Pentel Touch brush pens.
