What do you do with self-love quotes and affirmations?

I’ve been hand lettering since 2016 and the very first thing I learned was how powerful words can be. When you are making beautiful words beautiful, the words can kind of become true in your life. Here are a few ideas of what you can do with self-love quotes and affirmations to bring them into your life:

  1. Say them out loud to yourself.
  2. Write them down.
  3. Hand letter them and make them beautiful.
  4. Add them to your journal.
  5. Print them out and tape them on your mirror.

Want to start a hand lettering journal?

I have a hand lettering journal where I use my hand lettering as self-care. I use calligraphy and hand lettering as a way to unwind and destress. I use it as a way to work through big emotions, whether that’s happy or sad. My favorite journal to use is from Archer and Olive (use code: “ensigninsights” to save, this is my affiliate link).

My hand lettering journal is full of quotes. Sometimes I spend 5 minutes on a quote and sometimes I spend 3 days on a quote. I like to find quotes that are applicable to my life each day. I find quotes in books or podcasts I’m listening to. And even in songs or movies. I have a running list of quotes that I love so I can always go back to them when I need some quote inspiration.

As for affirmations, a lot of the time I just sit down and think, “what do I need to hear right now?” That’s how I come up with affirmations. I think about what I would want a friend to tell me. And in that way, I’m improving my positive self-talk and becoming my own best friend. It’s been amazing!

My hand lettering journal started in a place of desperation and has become a huge part of my life. If you want to learn more and start your own, you can join the Lettering Library and get monthly journal challenges. You won’t have to question what to letter and you can start using hand lettering to become the best version of yourself.

If you don’t know how to hand letter, that’s ok! There are lots of freebies and resources in the Lettering Library. I can’t wait to see you there!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I am really excited and passionate about all the things coming!!

  3. Hi Sarah, I have also started a collection of markers, pens & just bought a sample journal as I am just beginning. I used to be a doodler but also writing letters and designing my own style, so I enjoy your videos and love your colorful quotes and messages.
