10 May Hand Lettering Styles to Connect with Nature

What is more natural than creating something beautiful? When we look outside we see that earth can’t help creating beautiful things, especially in May! I’ve found that all of us have an inner need to create something beautiful in our lives. Hand lettering has provided that outlet for me. There’s joy in taking an empty space and turning it into something beautiful and inspiring. And there’s joy in looking back at old projects and seeing how much I’ve improved! Hand lettering is an opportunity to join with Mother Nature in making the world a more beautiful place.

How does hand lettering Relate to Nature?

Several years ago I was struggling to find joy in my current circumstances. One day, I walked out my front door and was greeted by these tiny pansies growing in a sidewalk crack. They were so tiny, I nearly missed them, but their bright purple was such a fun surprise!

I did some research and learned that these Viola Pansies are some of the most resilient flowers and can grow almost everywhere. They really know how to bloom where they’re planted! They inspired me to find ways I could grow and bloom, even in my own “sidewalk crack.” To this day, I am inspired by these tiny, purple flowers!

Are you letting your hand lettering bloom where you’re planted? Maybe you don’t think you have the best handwriting or you feel inexperienced with art. Or you don’t have the budget to go out and buy all the fancy brush pens and paper to get started. But like these pansies, you don’t have to wait for the perfect circumstances to create something beautiful. You can start now! And who knows who you’ll inspire during your own imperfect and creative journey.
