Hand lettering has been like a kind of sunshine for me while living in these places and going through some winter times of life. Adding bright colors and fun fonts to joyful words and quotes can bring summer into your life any time of the year! Whether it’s out your window or on the pages of your journal, “Some things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat!”
How Hand Lettering Helps US Be Present In The Moment
Have I mentioned that I love summer and I love the sun!? But sometimes my love for the sun is the very thing that makes it hard for me to enjoy the summer months-because I start worrying that they are going to end! Isn’t that silly?!
The antidote is clearly to be present in the moment and enjoy the sun while I have it. Yes, summer will end and the seasons will become less sunny, but why not enjoy the sun while I can? Better to let the memory of sunny summer brighten my winter days than to let the foreboding cold dampen the joy of the summer.
So my challenge becomes staying present. And I love how hand lettering helps me do this.
I love to pull out my hand lettering supplies, turn on some music, and get lost in my creative flow. As I slow down and focus on each stroke and letter, I’m taking in this present moment. It’s a beautiful way to slow down and enjoy my favorite season, while also adding my own bright creations to the world.
